Ghost Shrimp

ghost-shrimp2.jpg

(Paleomonetes sp.)

  • Water Chemistry: Clean water, doesn’t like high temperatures, 24C/76F
  • Size: Up to 4cm/1.5in
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Temperament: Peaceful

Maintenance: These are one of the easier shrimp to look after, as long as your water is clean and not too warm, these guys thrive.Add hiding spots for the shrimp that are molting. In desirable conditions, the females can often be seen scurrying around holding eggs under their abdomens.

Feeding: They often live off the scraps that your fish have spat out or missed, but do not be fooled into thinking this is all they need. If no plants are present in the aquarium adding extra greens such as zucchinis or romaine lettuce is an advisable practice.

Usefulness: These little guys have it al as far as I am concerned. They do a fantastic job keeping plantsĀ  clean of algae in more delicate tanks and make wonderful feeders for more robust tanks.
